FINISHED PRODUCT!

So as I said last week, yesterday was my last day of cake class and we got to make a cake. It is quite the process. Frosting the cake was the biggest challenge--not even the decorating. And I had some issues with my frosting falling off the sides. We learned the basketweave and well, mine didn't look so nice. I thought if I put the rope border covering the top it would help make it look better, but the border was a little too on the side so it just pulled all the decoration off the cake. It was wonderful. BUT, the cake tasted delicious, that is what counts in the end, right?

Me with my falling apart, beautiful cake. :)

The flowers that I made the previous weeks in a beautiful bouquet.

Finished product! yay!

I'm hoping to make a cake for my friend this Saturday, so if it turns out well, I'll put it on here too.

I think you did a great job, I had a tricky time with the basket weave too. Did you use the wilton recipe for the frosting or Melissa's?? Melissa's seems to stay on the cake better. I can't believe you have time to make a cake with everything on your plate, I am in awe of you. The kids keep asking when you guys are coming home. P gets all sad and says I miss Uncle Leigh and Ally. Love you guys!!!

Good job, Ally. Your flowers turned out great! Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the basket weave anyway... it was too much of a pain. So don't worry about it.
GREAT JOB!

Your hubby must be SO happy he married such a talented baker.

You won't be making your husband a doughnut cake like I did this year. (Yeah I know real amazing of me.)

The cake looks so good, Ally. Your flowers are beautiful. Don't feel bad about the basket weave, it is really hard to do and such a pain! Thanks for sharing it with us.
