Update

Our life has been filled with work and school--nothing exciting enough to share. I did go back to Utah for my actual graduation ceremony. My parents drove out my graduation present over Memorial Day Weekend--yes, I said DROVE. I got a car--2007 Toyota Camry that I am absolutely in love with. Thanks again Mom and Dad!! And Thanks for everything you did to help me get through college. Your support financially, emotionally, and physically especially when classes/professors/living circumstances were tough. I am very glad I am done with school for now. Although, I do miss it sometimes. I feel the need to find books to read to learn more about the education career. Which, I DO need to do.

My job has been a HUGE blessing. I was definitely put in the position I got in February for a reason. I have moved up from Associate Teacher to Long Term Substitute to TEACHER starting on June 15th. That means 2 raises and more hours, which has been great for us. The workload is a lot, but very manageable. Figuring out what to do with the kids and what to teach them has not been the difficult part as I have learned. Since we work so closely with the families (we know A LOT about the families) it brings different challenges. We are not only providing help and education for the children, but also for their parents and families. I have definitely felt the blessings from serving the families, but many of these families are in circumstances that are SO different than how I grew up. It has been quite a shocker for me. The experiences the parents have gone through. And it is especially amazing the experiences these young 3-5 year old children have been through--things they should NEVER have to experience. It provides for a new spectrum of challenges that these tiny minds are not meant to have to deal with physically, emotionally, or mentally. I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to have this specific job right now. It has opened my mind and allowed me to learn new things EVERY day about life. I have a great co-teacher and a great team that works at my site. They will drop just about anything if I need help.

Leigh has his finals this week for school and then he is taking off this summer because we are going to Guatemala. He is excited to be done with this semester. He has had some bizarre teachers. His biology teacher has taught them nothing about biology. One of his assignments was to go to a Peace Rally on campus...and that has what to do with biology? Who knows... He is planning on getting more hours for work--hopefully that works out so he isn't bored all summer.

On a different note, Leigh and I got to climb Mt. Pisgah last Sunday. It is WAY steep. But, since I have been running (thankfully!) I was able to make it without dying. I definitely felt it the next day though.

Some scenery along the way.

At the top--FINALLY!
YAY! We made it.
The way down was almost more difficult than the way up. We were practically running at some parts because it is so steep. And I wore my hiking boots to break them in and I think if I didn't have those on I would have gone tumbling all the way down the trail.

I love Mt. Pisgah... and the view from the top!
