What we are up to...

Our life has been super busy recently. Unfortunately, I don't have many pictures of our crazy lives. Our nephew, Eli, from New Jersey came to visit us before he leaves for Israel--we got to go to an EMs baseball game, Leigh went paintballing and shotgun shooting with him, and it was sad to see him go. The day after he left we went to a family reunion in Bandon, Oregon (on the coast) It was a lot of fun to meet more of Leigh's family, hang out on the beach, and camp with the family. This past weekend I had Friday off of work for the holiday and I went to a pool with Kirsten, Isabel, and Preston. It was a lot of fun! They loved it and I got a good tan. :)

The 4th of July was a lot of fun this year. I ran the Butte to Butte--a 10k in Eugene. Apparently, it makes me a true Eugenian. I have been training for it for months, so I was ready and it was a fun experience. I got to wear a number on my shirt, a timing chip on my shoe, and have people cheering me as I ran. Then I relaxed the afternoon away. In the evening we had a BBQ at Leigh's parents and then shot off fireworks. Last summer while we were driving through Wyoming on our way to my parents we bought lots of fireworks there (the ones that are illegal in Oregon). We shot them off, and it was really cool--and loud.

Here are the few pictures I have taken of what we have been up to.
The cake I made for Kirsten's Birthday. :) I have always wanted to make one of these cakes.

Eva and Tessa at the beach. They were so cute all bundled up.

While I was at work this past week I got flowers delivered right at the beginning of nap time for the kids. I figured it was from Leigh, but wasn't sure why. He did it totally random and it was so sweet. The roses were beautiful. I have the best husband around.

I bought a sewing machine with the money that I got from graduation. I had some material that I wanted to use to make a Christmas quilt. I didn't have enough material to make a big quilt--so I'm thinking it will be used as a wall hanging or something. This is what it looks like so far...I almost have the front of it finished.

Sewing is definitely not something that comes to me naturally--I have had to work hard at it, sewing, taking what I just sewed apart, re-sewing, and figuring out if I'm doing it right. It is a lot of fun though and surprising when it all seems to come together.

Anyways, that is what we have been up to in a nutshell. Upcoming: We are planning to go the Country Fair (a crazy festival with stereotypical Eugene people), my birthday!, and then GUATEMALA!

The quilt looks amazing. Because you're having to work hard at it, you're going to appreciate it all the more when it's done and hanging on your wall.
GREAT JOB running Butte to Butte!! I briefly saw you before the race began...

Wow. I'm totally impressed. Not only have you maximized your cake decorating skills but you have totally become a quilter! How fun! Jess and I started a quilt before I left, but never got to finish it. And that is so cool about the 10k. I'm curious to know how you trained for it. We're looking at running a half marathon once it cools down a little here. But I really miss hanging out with. Seems like everything is going great! We'll be up for the weekend of the 29th in August, so hopefully we can see you then!
