Mission Accomplished

I DID IT! I completely finished my very first quilt/sewing project!! It turned out way better than I anticipated as I was going along, and I am very excited about it. I am giving this to my grandma for Christmas because she has been my inspiration to sew and she has given me so many things that she has put her own hard work in to and I want to do the same for her.

The process of sewing has given me new confidence. At first, I was very frustrated because it wasn't piecing together right, there wasn't enough material to make as big of a quilt as I wanted, and I just wasn't getting the sewing machine to do what I wanted it to. I am used to having to work at things to perfect them and when I have the desire to be good at something, I like to think that I push myself and will eventually get it. I had committed myself to finish this quilt for my grandma--so I kept going. And the sewing came a little bit easier and the quilt ended up bigger than I first thought. Although, the pieces may not have matched up just right (don't look too closely at the quilt) it still worked itself out. And I am proud of it. I persevered and accomplished this project. It gave me confidence to start cutting for another quilt. And I have bought material to make 3 more projects for Christmas gifts. :)

I am very excited about this new hobby of mine. It has been great to be able to come home from a stressful day at work and listen to music while I work on the quilt. Yesterday, I worked on it as I listened to conference--it was wonderful.

I'll post my new projects AFTER Christmas since some of my readers will be receiving these projects. :)

I love the fabrics you chose, Ally. Great job. I still haven't finished my quilt I started over a year ago. (((sigh)))
