Did you know we were home with the girls?!
A lot has happened since we last posted on here--the closer we got to coming home, the more often we were at the hospital and the more exhausting our lives became. I am getting way less sleep now that they are home, but I have way more energy because life isn't as stressful and I am just so incredibly grateful to have them home.
The weekend of the 4th, Gammy, PaPa and Uncle Austin came to visit. It was pretty uneventful and we had to let the girls sleep a lot so they would eat well. But, they all had a chance to hold one of the girls. :)
After they left the following week went by so fast and the girls all of a sudden took off on breastfeeding. It was fabulous. We decided to have them top off with a bottle after breastfeeding in order for us to come home faster. The girls needed only one day of being topped off with the bottle and then they did much better breastfeeding the days following. We stayed over night at the hospital Thursday and Friday night and we were discharged Saturday morning! Both girls are on some medications and we are giving them at least two bottles of day with my breastmilk that has been fortified with some formula for preemies (makes it like a protein shake for babies). Lyla is on oxygen so we got set up with a monitor that checks her heart and respiratory rate and an oxygen tank. She has to wear a belt around her chest with two wires coming from it that hooks up to the monitor. It kind of sucks for her, but isn't as bulky as I anticipated.
Since being home we spend our days sleeping, eating, pooping, and watching lots of Netflix. We have been doing tons of dishwashing with all the bottles and lots of laundry because the girls spit up a lot. The first couple nights were rough sleepwise, but I think we are getting a system and routine down. The girls, thankfully, have been staying on pretty much the same schedule with eating. We went to their first doctor's appointment today and they both look good. It seems that they have both gained weight (we won't know for sure until next week when we go back because they use a different scale than the hospital). The doctor said they both sounded good, and we got the go ahead to lower Lyla's oxygen! She just needs to be lowered one more time and go off of her caffeine, then we can hopefully take her off the oxygen. Then she will have her monitor for another couple weeks, then it will be done for good! We are hoping in the next 4-6 weeks we will be tube-monitor-wires-free! We go back on Tuesday of next week to get weights checked again, oxygen levels checked, and our first round of vaccines.
We love love LOVE having the girls home. We get to cuddle with them all day and stare at their beautiful faces whenever we want. They are definitely letting their voice be heard around our home and becoming little princesses. :)

Ally, they are so adorable! I can't believe how big they are. I'm so glad they are home now and I seriously can't wait to meet them! I'm still working on their awesome gift :). But it should be finished soon! Keep the updates coming. I love hearing how they are doing. My sister in law is having a c section on Monday with her twins. We're praying everything goes as well as yours!
What a great feeling to have them home. You both are very strong people and an inspiration.
LOVE THEM!!!! Such cute pictures!!! And those outfits, I want to eat them up.
So EXCITING! I'm glad they're home and doing well.
