9 months

My babies are becoming little girls! It is sad and exciting all at the same time. It is so fun to see them do new things and to be so proud of themselves. This past month has been a lot of fun for us. The girls and I have spent a lot of time alone because Leigh is soooo busy at school. My mom was able to come out this past week and my dad this weekend, which was nice to have some extra help and got some shopping and out to eat done.

Kendal Mae:
15 lbs. 13 oz. (15%)
26 1/4 inches long (10.6%)

Kendal...
-is ALMOST crawling on hands and knees. She can do it just a couple times before she moves on to other means of going places. She does a little bit of army crawling, lunging forward, scooting. I think the crawling will happen in just a few days.
has been sick the past few days with a cold and cough
-sticks out her tongue allllll the time
-definitely a mommy's girl. this past week she has been very clingy to me with having more people in the house and being out a lot
-picks up every little thing on the floor, which means I have to keep everything cleaned up and vacuum a lot more than normal

Lyla Jane:
15 lbs. 5 oz. (9.5%)
25 inches (.5%)

Lyla...
-has started to get on her knees and rock a little bit. Her hips are extremely tight (due to prematurity we think/hope), but they are getting looser so we are thinking she will get on her knees more.
-looooves bathtime and splashing the water
- flirts with other small children in public. We have been out to eat a couple times this week where another baby in a highchair is close to us and Lyla will scream, smile, and talk to them. It is hilarious.
-has started making these funny faces where she squints her eyes and makes a cheesy smile. We love it.
-shakes her head a lot--when she is tired and excited

 Kendal and Lyla...
-are saying baba and mama. We are working on dada currently without much luck.
-give kisses
-wave sometimes when someone is waving and saying hi
-no teeth yet, but I think they are coming very soon
-both have taken a liking to yoga: they can do the downward dog pose where your body makes a triangle with your bottom in the air. Kendal even likes to get up in that pose and look at her feet (this is not due to me doing yoga, it just happened)
-eating: they LOVE food. cannot get enough. Since last month they have added: green beans, sweet peas, sweet potatoes, bananas, peaches, applesauce, apples/blueberries, pears, prunes, gerber puffs, yogurt melts, jarred meats, and rice crackers. They will eat all of them. I haven't found anything they won't eat. They are getting better about picking up food and getting it in their mouths, so I'm hoping to start some more finger foods this upcoming month.
-LOVE: electronics, musical t oys, blocks, jumperoo, books
-favorite songs: twinkle twinkle little star, rock a bye baby, mary had a little lamb, I am a Child of God, and the wheels on the bus
-when asked: "where is mommy/daddy?" Both will look around for mommy/daddy and smile when they find us.
-peek around something to look at someone--which is so cute because their head cocks to the side and gets a cute, inquisitive look on their face.
-have started to have stranger anxiety. It started out in public when we would be approached--if someone would talk to them they would instantly burst in to tears. This past week they were really clingy to Leigh and I, but then they got more comfortable around my parents.
-have been sitting in highchairs at restaurants and in the cart at the store. They love being able to look around and do more while we are out.
-are wearing cloth diapers at night. I decided to not use them all the time due to the large amount of laundry I already have to do. I figured we will save about 120 diapers a month just doing it at night--and every diaper counts, right?
-don't like naptime, but I am going to change that this month. We got in to this routine of taking short naps throughout the day and then they would be SO tired at night. It was my lack of knowing what their naptimes should be like during the day and they have been kind of in a transition phase. I think they are ready for 2 bigger naps during the day, so we are going to work on that. I am looking forward to the days of morning and afternoon naps so I can get things done.
-love to spend lots of time on the floor, which does allow me to get simple things done during the day instead of at night after they go to bed.

We are excited for this upcoming month and all the changes that are in store for our little girls.

Last month I mentioned Kendal fell asleep in the jumperoo, here is the proof:
