I absolutely love my Grandma!

This past week I got a huge surprise in a package from my parents. My mom had told me that she was sending us a big box with a gift inside that she knew I would love. When I was younger I played competitive softball for years and when I got into high school there were always t-shirts for the dances and during football season--and I was quite the t-shirt-wearer in high school so I had many of them. I really wanted a quilt with those memories sewn within them, so I had asked my mom awhile ago to take the t-shirts and ask my Grandma Wells (my dad's mom) if she would make a quilt for me.

To my surprise when I opened the box was not one, but TWO, quilts with these t-shirts, and two pillows made with sweatshirts from softball and high school. They are beautiful and I LOVE them! They have quickly become the blankets that stay on our couch to use when we watch TV. My Grandma is amazing and I am so grateful for the many quilts she has made for me. She is one of my inspirations to begin sewing.

I went to Valley High School, and our mascot was the Tiger. When I played softball I was on a team named the Panthers, and I was #3 because my dad had been #3 when he played baseball.

This quilt includes football t-shirts (our team won state a couple years I was in high school), jerseys from softball, a shirt from a homecoming dance with a "Paradise City" by Guns N Roses theme, a shirt from a Valentine's dance that had a "Jamaican Me Crazy" theme, and a rugby shirt from when I played rugby.

This quilt has my '05 Senior Girls shirt, more football shirts, softball jerseys, and my senior prom shirt which was themed with "A Night in Paris"--which I think now is a foreshadow of the person I would marry. :) Just kidding.

Anyways, it is fun to have all these memories with me and to always have the memory that my Grandma took the time to sew them for me.
