Today was another excellent day. The girls both slept most of the day in their isolettes. Lyla has had her oxygen level lowered several times over the past 24 hours. She is close to being on a low flow cannula. Kendal has been being fed my milk and is doing really well with it. They give preemie babies probiotics twice a day for a couple days to get their intestines ready for milk. Kendal is done with the probiotics and is getting about 14 ml every 3 hours of my milk. Lyla just started getting my milk and is at 2 ml. Kendal and Lyla both have holes in their hearts that are expected and not of any concern. Kendal has one in the top two chambers of the heart that generally close on their own. Lyla also has one in the top two chambers, but she also has a muscular hole between the two bottom chambers, which is the best kind to have and will probably be closed by the time we leave the NICU. If it is not they will probably have us follow up, but they are not worried about it.
Both girls got cute little bows in their hair! Kendal's is peach and Lyla's is red.
Lyla was a little upset and uncomfortable when first placed on my chest, but when I put my hand on top of her head with a little pressure and got the binkie in the mouth-she was good to go.
Lyla all calm--can you see her cute bow??
Kendal slept like this the entire time Leigh held her, she was SO comfy in daddy's arms. And you can definitely see her cute peach bow.
Kendal waving her arms
Both girls are super strong, but Kendal still seems to be our little monkey. She loves to raise her legs and her arms like this.
Kendal also loves to pull on her feeding tube, and then get upset because it hurts. :) Daddy got this priceless picture.
Tomorrow is their one week birthday!!! We are so grateful to have these two precious girls in our lives and so grateful for their health and strength this past week.
