Lyla is starting to open her eyes more and being able to hold them open longer. She is now on a low flow cannula and is doing really well on it. We are hoping she will be off of it in the next couple days. She moved up to 3 cc at feedings. Her jaundice numbers went up a little bit, but not enough to put her back on the light. They will recheck in 48 hours. She now weighs 2 lbs. 13 oz. I am really hoping she starts gaining weight.
Kendal is a very alert little girl and loves her binkie. She got up to full feedings today for her weight. Which means that her feedings go up as her weight goes up. Since she is on full feedings, they took her picc out! That means less tubes hooked up to her, easier holding for us, and now we can get her out of the isolette and put her back in. Kendal weighs 3 lbs. 11 oz. Her jaundice numbers went down, which is excellent. She receives her caffeine orally now (through her feeding tube).
Once Lyla's picc line is out--which will happen when she is up to full feedings and off the cannula, the girls can potentially be together in the same bed. I think we have to wait until they are out of the isolettes too, which will happen when they are over 1800 grams (about 4 lbs). So hopefully in the next couple weeks!
