June 12, 2011:: Day 24

 This weekend the girls have been doing great! 

Lyla is 3 lbs. 15 oz. ONE more ounce and the girls will be put together!! We are thinking she will be past that mark when we go in today--so we are hoping today or tomorrow they will be put in the same bed. I started nutritive feedings with Lyla on Friday night. And we (including nurses/doctors) underestimated this little girl. She did fabulous. Her first time she got 10 ml! She is definitely our little fighter. She is so sweet and precious. After I feed her I get some time to do skin to skin with her. When she is awake she stares up at me the entire time, it is so cute. 

Kendal is 5 lbs. 5 oz. She is starting to get rolls and becoming our little chunky monkey. I love it. Kendal was put back on oxygen yesterday--she was taken off her caffeine, which helps with the breathing and she may have been taken off a little early. She hates having the cannula in her nose. She is also doing fabulous with feedings. On Friday she got more than half her feeding both times she nursed. She has been very noisy recently--makes noises as she wakes up, while she eats, and after she eats. 

After I started my antibiotics for the mastitis--I got a cold sore. So when I go in to the NICU I have to wear a mask. I go in to feed them, but have to spend the rest of my day at home. The doctor helped me out a lot because he could tell I was super paranoid and nervous about the cold sore. He prescribed me some antibiotics and cream that is stronger than anything OTC. It should be gone in a couple days and then I can spend more time with my girls.

Leigh held both of them yesterday and I got these great pictures. Lyla was all snuggly with Kendal and Kendal was not having it. She was kind of mad--then she settled down.
